Accumulation ofcis- andtrans-regulatory variations is associated with phenotypic divergence of a complex trait between yeast species

چکیده
Abstract Gene regulatory variations accumulate during evolution and alter gene expression. While the importance of expression variation in phenotypic is well established, molecular basis remains largely unknown. Here, we examine two closely related yeast species, Saccharomyces cerevisiae paradoxus, which show phenotypical differences morphology cell cycle progression when grown same environment. By profiling transcriptome binding key transcription factors (TFs) species their hybrid, that changes levels dynamics oscillating genes are dominated by upstream trans-variations. We find multiple regulators both cis- trans-regulatory variations, alters favor different phenotypes. Moreover, TFs, Fkh1, Fkh2 affect target genes, specificity an interacting TF, Ace2. Our study reveals how propagate through network, TFs binding, contributing to progression.

Cis-Regulatory Divergence in Gene Expression between Two Thermally Divergent Yeast Species
Gene regulation is a ubiquitous mechanism by which organisms respond to their environment. While organisms are often found to be adapted to the environments they experience, the role of gene regulation in environmental adaptation is not often known. In this study, we examine divergence in cis-regulatory effects between two Saccharomycesspecies, S. cerevisiaeand S. uvarum, that have substantiall...
متن کاملLeaf trait variations associated with habitat affinity of tropical karst tree species
Karst hills, that is, jagged topography created by dissolution of limestone and other soluble rocks, are distributed extensively in tropical forest regions, including southern parts of China. They are characterized by a sharp mosaic of water and nutrient availability, from exposed hilltops with poor soil development to valleys with occasional flooding, to which trees show species-specific distr...
متن کاملPhenotypic heterogeneity is a selected trait in natural yeast populations subject to environmental stress
Populations of genetically uniform microorganisms exhibit phenotypic heterogeneity, where individual cells have varying phenotypes. Such phenotypes include fitness-determining traits. Phenotypic heterogeneity has been linked to increased population-level fitness in laboratory studies, but its adaptive significance for wild microorganisms in the natural environment is unknown. Here, we addressed...
متن کاملSporadic Gene Loss After Duplication Is Associated with Functional Divergence of Sirtuin Deacetylases Among Candida Yeast Species
Gene duplication promotes the diversification of protein functions in several ways. Ancestral functions can be partitioned between the paralogs, or a new function can arise in one paralog. These processes are generally viewed as unidirectional. However, paralogous proteins often retain related functions and can substitute for one another. Moreover, in the event of gene loss, the remaining paral...

In order to determine the fumonisin producingisolates of the Fusarium fujikuroi species complex (FFSC), associated with infected spikes, and ear rot of grass plants, we examined 78 samples collected from Kermanshah province, Iran. Based on morphological characters, twenty two isolates assigned to the FFSC and were identified as F. proliferatum (ten isolates), F. verticillioides (seven isolates)...
